James J Filicia was born in Syracuse, NY, where he graduated from Christian Brothers Academy High School, then he attended and graduated from Le Moyne College also in Syracuse, NY with a BS in Biology/Chemistry and Psychology. Thereafter, he attended Western State University College of Law in San Diego, CA, where he earned a JD degree and passed the California Bar Exam immediately thereafter.

Mr. Filicia has remained in the San Diego area where he resides with his wife Theresa of 40 years, and near his three children and their families; Thomas (TJ), Kristen (married to Ben Hall) and Lauren (married to Ted Hurvul with son Theo and one on the way).

Mr. Filicia has had a very successful law practice in which he has worked at the Onondaga
County District Attorney’s Office, The California Attorney General’s Office, and has been in private practice for over 40 years. Mr. Filicia currently maintains a Law Office in San Diego, California:

Over the course of his career, Mr. Filicia has successfully tried numerous cases in both state
