ABOUT CHARLES LIMANDRI
Over the past year, LiMandri has blazed a path of significant legal victories, including cases that captured the attention of the United States Supreme Court. His landmark victory in South Bay United Pentecostal Church et al. v. Gavin Newsom et al., broke the unconstitutional stranglehold that California’s governor had imposed upon churches and religious worshippers under the guise of COVID-19 prevention. The combination of the win for South Bay and a related victory for LiMandri in Burfitt v. Newsom, et al., compelled the State of California to agree to enter into permanent injunctions that prohibit the state from imposing discriminatory restrictions on all houses of worship statewide. The terms of the injunction included payment of over $2 million dollars in restitution and fees by the State to plaintiffs.
LiMandri also was instrumental in securing a big win for religious liberty in an impressive $800,000 settlement for a similar COVID-19 restriction church case involving renowned Pastor John MacArthur and Grace Community Church against the City of Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, and the State of California.
Yet LiMandri’s fight for the welfare of local communities and for the liberty of all people in California continues. In pending litigation, LiMandri represents stakeholders, alumni, and staff of San Pasqual Academy, a highly successful foster care program in Escondido, California, long relied on by the County for quality placements. San Pasqual Academy plaintiffs are suing the County of San Diego Health & Human Services Agency and the California Department of Social Services for trying to unlawfully shut down the nationally preeminent boarding school for high-school foster youth.
LiMandri is also representing local San Diego community members objecting to the illegal renaming of Father Junipero Serra High School in litigation against the San Diego Unified School District. In addition, LiMandri represents clients in a lawsuit against the California Department of Education whose children are being compelled to pray to Aztec gods in the state’s ethnic studies curriculum.
Mr. LiMandri’s trial experience encompasses many areas of civil litigation. He has successfully represented clients in business litigation, products liability, medical malpractice, and personal injury cases. Additionally, he has successfully handled cases involving insurance coverage, construction, real estate, environmental and maritime matters.
Since 1983 Mr. LiMandri has tried numerous civil trials to verdict in state and federal courts, and he is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. LiMandri is a frequent author and lecturer who has appeared and been published locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. He has also been a featured guest speaker on radio and television and has been interviewed by many media outlets including Fox News, the Wall Street Journal, CNN, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, National Review, the Washington Times, Newsweek, KPBS, and others.
